Adsorption of Arsenic on MgAl Layered Double Hydroxide
نویسندگان
چکیده
Groundwater in the Eastern Croatia, as well in the South-eastern Hungary, contains relatively high concentrations of arsenic that can cause chronic toxicity to humans. Therefore, the aim to find an effective composite adsorbent that can be applied for arsenic water remediation by introducing it in the groundwater treatment is very important. The presented results were obtained using layered double hydroxide (LDH) as a sorbing system. MgAl LDH samples with a Mg:Al molar ratio of 2:1 were synthesized. Adsorption of arsenic anions from groundwater samples from Eastern Croatia, as well as adsorption of model aquatic arsenic sample solutions, on MgAl layered double hydroxide was investigated. Inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) was used for determination of arsenic concentration after adsorption. It was shown that in both cases the adsorption process could be interpreted in terms of Kroeker adsorption isotherm regardless to the presence of other ions in the groundwater. Additionally, the influence of phosphate concentration on adsorption of model arsenic samples was examined and it was shown that (at least in examined range of arsenic and phosphate concentration) there is no significant influence of phosphate on adsorption of arsenic. Evaluation of the Efficiency of Double Aluminum-Magnesium Layered Nano-Hydroxide in Removal of Pharmaceuticals from Aquatic Solutions and Determination of Optimal Adsorption
Background: Antibiotics and their metabolites are known as dangerous non-degradable substances that potentially remain after the wastewater treatment process. Therefore, it is necessary to remove these compounds from aqueous solutions. This study aimed to use layered double nano-hydroxides to remove carbamazepine, cephalexin, and ciprofloxacin. Methods: In this experimental study the charact...

MgAl-Layered double hydroxide (LDH) films with different orientations on the two sides of a glass substrate, one of which was modified with poly(vinyl alcohol), have been obtained by a one-step in situ hydrothermal crystallization method, and the growth mechanisms of the two films are discussed.
متن کاملMgCaFe-layered double hydroxide (LDH) for congo red dye removal in aqueous solution
In this work, the ability of the MgCaFe- Layered double hydroxide (LDH) for congo red (CR) dye removal in aqueous solution was investigated. Various parameters such as initial dye concentrations, temperature, adsorbent dosage, pH effect and agitation rate were examined and optimal conditions (10 mgL-1 of the dye concentration, 25 °C of temperature, 0.5 gL-1 of the adsorbent dosage, pH~7 and 450...
متن کاملEffect of MgAl-layered double hydroxide exchanged with linear alkyl carboxylates on fire-retardancy of PMMA and PS†
Alkyl carboxylate-modified layered double hydroxides (LDH) were prepared and used as nanofillers for poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and polystyrene (PS). The LDH intercalated with long-chain linear alkyl carboxylates (CH3(CH2)nCOO , n 1⁄4 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 20) were prepared via anionic exchange of MgAl–nitrate, showing a systematic increase in basal spacing with longer alkyls. MgAl–undecenoa...

In this paper, the synthesis of a cheap, reusable and ligand-free Pd catalyst supported on MgAl layered double hydroxides (Pd/MgAl-LDHs) by co-precipitation and reduction methods is described. The catalyst was used in Heck reactions under high-speed ball milling (HSBM) conditions at room temperature. The effects of milling-ball size, milling-ball filling degree, reaction time, rotation speed an...
